[TN-Bird] Ensley Bottoms - Robco/Coro Lakes and Tunica MS

TVA Lake/Robco-Coro Lakes
Shelby Co.
Tunica Co. MS
There are constant flocks of scaup moving in and out of TVA Lake from
McKellar with numbers going from almost zero to hundreds in minutes. Greater
Scaup
are easily picked up in flight and with little work IDed on the water.
Present 11-24-07: DC Cormorants, Ring-billed Gulls, Coots, Pied-billed Grebes,
Canada Geese,Wood Ducks-2, Am. Wigeon -2 hens, Gadwall, Mallards, Blue-winged
Teal - 1 hen (first on the lake in 2 weeks), Northern Shovelers, No. Pintail -
2
hens, Green-winged Teal - 8, Canvasback - 11 been here two days, Redheads -
11 hens, 12 drakes, Ring-necked Ducks- 19 hens, 28 drakes, GREATER SCAUP- 17
hens and immatures, 9 adult males, Bufflehead - 2 hens, Hooded Mergansers and
5 Ruddy Ducks.
In two days, the numbers on Robco/Coro Lakes has doubled with good counts
both days and numbers still growing with the last fronts. Present: resident
Canada Geese, Gadwall - 32, Northern Shovelers - 55+, Am. Wigeon 5,
Mallards-appear to be all resident as numbers steady for 3 weeks, Northern
Pintail -9,
Green-winged Teal -31, Canvasback - 17 just starting to come in finally,
Redheads-17, Ring-necked Ducks - 1,550+,
Greater Scaup - 24 up close, I'm sure more in distant scaup flocks, Lesser
Scaup 4,000 countable with almost equal number in far west corner putting
numbers at 7,000+, One HYBRID Ring-necked/ Scaup male, Bufflehead - 38, Hooded
Merganser -7, Red-breasted Merganser 3 hens and 890++ Ruddy Ducks.
Only 2 immature Rough-legged Hawks were located and photographed again today
in Tunica Co. and Ring-billed Gulls are finally in the fields in good
numbers, over 500 counted near dump but no other species seen. Kestrel numbers
jumped with the passage of the front with a slight increase in Shrikes. Oodles
of
Scow, Ross's and Greater White-fronted Geese.
