4/14/12 Cross Mountain, Campbell County Lola and I spent Saturday morning from about 9:00 to 11:30 on Cross Mountain near Caryville, TN. We spent most of the time on an old coal mining bench that is probably the most popular for birding. It is near the top and accessed off of a sharp right hand bend of Mountain Road. There were not large numbers of warblers but a good variety. - American Redstart - 3 - Ovenbird - 2 - Yellow-rumped - 1 - Black-throated Green W. - 8 - Cerulean W. - 7 (very vocal) - Blue-winged W. - 2 - Golden-winged W. - 1 male, same location as last year (3 weeks earlier) in first 50 yards of the bench - Hooded W. - 3 - Northern Parula - 1 - Chestnut-sided W. - 1 - Black and White W. - 2 - Blue-headed Vireo - 2 - Red-eyed Vireo - 2 - White-eyed Vireo - 2 - Scarlet Tanager - 1 - Indigo Bunting - 1 female - Eastern Towhee - 12 - Field Sparrow - 2 - Brown Thrasher - 2 - Carolina Wren - 4 - Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 2 - Northern Cardinal - 8 - Carolina Chickadee - 5 - Pileated Woodpecker - 1 - Red-tailed Hawk - 1 Chuck Estes Oak Ridge, TN
