Ok, maybe I'm just caught up in the fever or the Clariten is causing me to hallucinate, but I'm 95% sure I heard a Connecticut Warbler singing in the backyard this morning. It was between 6:30 and 7:00am and I had been up since 6am looking and listening (and sneezing and blowing my nose). I had just stopped looking when I heard from out the window, one clear, close song... then nothing. I never saw the bird nor heard it again. The song was hesitant at first, the sped up near the end. I thought CT at the time and, after comparison with the Stokes CD, I'm even more convinced. I'm on a ridge with a long strip of woods running behind the house along the top and backside of the ridge. Mainly oak, hickory, cherry, magnolia with a thick understory of dogwood, redbud, may apples, poison ivy and various other, unidentified plants... basically, a machette is a good thing to have when walking in these woods... except for the poison ivy part. I just wish I could have seen it or, at least, heard it again. I'll try to find him again.
