I birded the Blythe Ferry Crane Viewing Area in Meigs County, TN on December 28, 2006 from 10:22 am to 11:04 am. Birds seen include: 1. Double-crested cormorant- 3 2. Great blue heron- 8 3. Great egret- 1 4. Green-winged teal- 1 5. American black duck- 2 6. Mallard- at least 213 7. Northern shoveler- 3 8. Gadwall- 2 9. Ring-necked duck- 1 10. Bufflehead- 1 11. Hooded merganser- 26 12. Ruddy duck- 1 13. Red-tailed hawk- 1 14. Sandhill crane- 1000s 15. Whooping crane- 1 adult 16. American coot- 8 17.
