I am sure others have already discovered this nest, but for those who haven't I'll share it with you. An osprey pair have built a nest on a cellular tower near the Kroger in the Bearden area of West Knoxville. I first noticed the nest about 3 weeks ago when I saw one of the birds landing on the tower with a stick in tow. Yesterday I observed one of the pair sitting on the nest. For those not familiar with the area: This is the Kroger in Knox Plaza, located on Kingston Pike near Western Plaza in the Bearden area of west Knoxville. To view the nest, park in the lot of Kroger and look to west. You'll see the tower a few parcels of land to the west. From this tower, the Tennessee River (Fort Loudon Lake) is a pretty short flight (as the osprey flies) due South.
