This morning around 9:00 CT I was traveling west bound on Interstate 40. Near the Crab Orchard Exit (#329) a large bird flying across the opposite lanes caught my eye. It was an adult Bald Eagle. It crossed the median, banked and flew over my truck at a low altitude. The white head and tail were beautiful. It was a great and unexpected surprise. I was en route to the Cumberland Trail State Park office at the Head of the Sequatchie to lead a scheduled bird walk. I am assuming the weather was the reason no one came out. Birdwise, it was mostly quiet with little activity. I did see a flock of four Sandhill Cranes wheeling overhead.
