The latest supplement to the AOU checklist has been published and is available online. I went through it quickly and didn't see many drastic changes. Lots of scientific name changes and some taxonomic shuffling. See the forwarded message below for the web address where you can find the supplement. Blue Grouse is split into Dusky Grouse and Sooty Grouse. Cape Verde Shearwater and Black-bellied Storm-Petrel are added based on birds seen on pelagic trips from the Outer Banks of North Carolina (and a split for Cape Verde Shearwater) Ringed Turtle-Dove becomes African Collared-Dove (Ringed Turtle- Dove is considered a domesticated form of African Collared-Dove). Skuas and Jaegars are elevated to family level (Stercorariidae) between Laridae (Gulls and Terns) and Alcidae (Auks) There's considerable taxonomic shuffling of species in the Tringa sandpipers (Spotted, Solitary, Willet, yellowlegs, etc.), the terns, and the cuckoos. Lots of new scientific names here and new listing orders. Of note is that Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs are no longer considered each other's closest relative. See the Supplement for the new list order.
