[TN-Bird] 1000-point season; or, why I love the dawn

This morning (0347-0435 CDT) I ran the last 10 points of 1010 total
points I conducted this breeding season (since May 26th); of these
points 900 were conducted as daylight points and 110 as night points.
This morning's points were the last of 80 night points I conducted in
conjunction with the Putnam County Summer Roadside Survey. I recorded a
Common Nighthawk during the points this morning on the very last stop,
bringing to 104 the number of species recorded in Putnam County by Barb
and me as part of the SRS.

This morning made 29 consecutive days of being out at or (usually well)
before dawn to count birds. Although I have gotten used to this
schedule, I am looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow; I don't have to
get up then until 4:00 A.M., when I will arise to make it to a hike into
the Heritage Marsh; and Sunday I can sleep till 4:15, when I will arise
to make a trip to Bledsoe Co. to see the nesting Scissor-tailed
Flycatchers. After that even later wake-up times seem likely.

Hope your summer season has been a good one.
