If an Exchange server is involved than it could be related to free\busy
updates. Outlook might be hanging when it contacts Exchange to update
it's free busy time.
Have you tried start Outlook with the /cleanfreebusy switch?

Hi All
I have outlook 2002 sp3 running on a XP FR3 sp4 farm, users are
experiencing a 4 to 5 second delay were outlook appears to stop
responding.
I did find a MS article that said the fix was to install SP3 but
SP3 is part of the install.
Has anyone any ideas or pointers?
