For at least server 2003, on the CD you have a Support folder and in that
a deploy.cab - extract the contents of deploy.cab to c:\sysprep then
launch c:\sysprep\setupmgr.exe and choose to create a sysprep.inf file and
to completely automate the installation. Proceed through the tool and save
the file as c:\sysprep\sysprep.inf (sysprep deletes the entire c:\sysprep
folder after it runs so if you specify passwords in the file the file will
be deleted, although not securely). Optionally you can edit the
sysprep.inf file and if you specify the computer name as something
containing text and an * - like "CITRIX-*" - and sysprep will halt and let
you specify a computer name and then continue; otherwise you can specify a
'*' to have sysprep automatically generate a random name. Run
c:\sysprep\sysprep.exe, check "use mini setup" and click reseal and the
computer will shutdown. Capture your image at this time and when you reboot
the system will automatically run through mini setup, join your domain
(assuming you provided the information), create the SID, etc.
As was mentioned, many programs, especially programs like A/V programs,
like to also have a unique identifier and sysprep/imaging can mess it up, so
test beforehand and if in doubt leave it off the image and script the
install after fact.
