We have had issues with HP Laserjet printers (1300,2200,2300,8150, etc.) not mapping correctly, slow printing, print jobs showing up as lanscape vs portrait and on and on.... Currently I am going down the same path trying to utilize the PCL 5e driver or postscript driver. Also, we are trying to limit the number of drivers installed on the server and using mappings when possible. Have you installed any of the newer HP drivers that are suppose to be be Terminal server compatible or are you using the native drivers from the CD? -Mike Original Message: ----------------- From: Jeff Soules jsoules@xxxxxxxxxxx Date: Tue, 07 Sep 2004 09:42:33 -0400 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: Pcl 5e VS pcl 6 We have also been having numerous printing issues which, come to think of it, are mostly with HP LaserJet 4 series printers (incl. 4200, 4800, etc.) using PCL 6 drivers. We've not yet tried getting clients (who are working with external firms) to install PCL 5e or PS drivers -- perhaps that would help. In case you're wondering, the issues in question include massively slow printing (one page per five-six minutes), black/white inverted image problems, and pages with garbage characters printed before and after the main print job. I'll have to try using the 5e drivers the next time this comes up. Thanks for the suggestion. ~Jeff > -----Original Message----- > From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On > Behalf Of Jason Patten > Sent: Tuesday, September 07, 2004 9:18 AM > To: 'thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' > Subject: [THIN] Re: Pcl 5e VS pcl 6 > > > I have noticed that when printing using the HP LaserJet 4 driver on the > Server side that if the client has a PCL6 driver, the printing is > EXTREMELY > slow, on the order of one page per minutes or sometimes slower than that. > Printing is more normal with the PCL5e driver.
