Recently I upgraded one of the servers in our MF XPa farm (running in native mode) to MPS 3.0. The server was the ZDC for its zone and the upgrade went smoothly (I did create an updated CD image using CTX104814 and I applied MPSE300W2K3R01 after the install). Today I noticed that when I run the "query farm /app" command I get the following line of gibberish along with the regular info: From a MF XPa server: Application Name Server Name Load Load ------------------------------------------- --------------- ------ ------ ☺ ?♫????y 196611 0 From the MPS 3.0 server: Application Name Server Name Load Load ------------------------------------------- --------------- ------ ------ ☺ D☼???? 196608 0 The info in the second a third columns fluctuates from time to time, and yes, the last two columns are actually not centered under the column headings. All other switches for the "query farm" command return valid data. If I stop the IMAService on the MPS 3.0 server then this data goes away. All data shows up in the CMC just fine. I believe this data is a test app that is published only on the MPS 3.0 server, and this app is still accessible. My questions are: 1) Is this normal? 2) Will this resolve itself once all servers are upgraded to MPS 3.0, or does the query farm /app command become useless? If I change the ZDC for the zone that the MPS 3.0 server is in to a MF XPa server the invalid data still shows up. If the gibberish only showed up on the MF XPa servers I wouldn't be concerned, but since it is also showing up on the MPS 3.0 server it has me a little worried.
