We're looking at a number of things to optimise the performance for wireless links; optimising the ICA template files in WI, setting the MTU on the client, on the server, setting them so they match and all that jazz. This setting came up - its in the docos for previous versions-but not for the latest release. I kinda hoped it was just a doco omission In all honesty don't think its going to help us in our particular circumstances. In our tests our better performance increases have come more from tweaking the ica template than this IP low level stuff. And, if we implemented this sort of setting then we'd have to consider the impact on internal users of the same servers. _____ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Russell Robertson Sent: 03 October 2005 14:05 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: MaxICAPacketLength I'm looking at some satellite comms work at the moment, are you setting TCP window sizes and the like too? I'm not aware of any protocol changes between PS3 and PS4. regards, Rick Ulrich Mack Volante Systems _____ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Andrew Wood Sent: Mon 3/10/2005 8:35 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] MaxICAPacketLength From MPS3's admin guide - 'By default, ICA sessions connecting over TCP use maximum sized TCP packets (up to 1460 bytes of data) for the transmission of large amounts of data. However, there are a small number of network types, usually wireless or satellite-based networks, where better performance can be achieved by using smaller packets. You can change the normal maximum size (1460) on a server by setting the following registry entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\Wds\icawd \MaxICAPacketLength' This is a valid option in FR3/MPS3 but does not appear in the advanced admin guide for MPS4 Anyone know if this is a redundant setting in this version - or has it just been overlooked?
