Thanks again to everybody responded to my post. We had a conversation with citrix engineer this morning and he confirmed there is a problem when you put AAC and PS on the same server. The knowledge base article will be released soon. For now we will have to move AAC to another server that is not running metaframe. So far the status of this problem is that Citrix engineers told us never to put AAC on server running a copy Presentation server. We will have a conference call on Monday to hear more on this. It may be the culprit because we are only having problem with 1 out of 3 similar server (same hardware, same windows server and PS4 but the problem server is also AAC and licensing). For these of you in the planning stage for your AAC deployment you may want to take this into account. I will keep you posted about this issue and I seriously consider Rick's suggestions to spread out farm roles and move to MSDE datastore. Tim, I put the rollup R01 on and it did not help. I hope I will know more after the call on Monday. ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Tim Mangan Sent: Friday, April 21, 2006 9:15 PM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Re: IMASRV.EXE is faulting Pavlo, I was having a similar issue with IMA on a 2k3 )S and PS4 with AAC, using an SQL data store. My ImaSrv was 4.0.2250.0 but would crash in a similar (but of course different address). My IMA crash was probably 90% of the time. Eventually I solved it by patching with the Citrix rollup hotfix R01. So you might look at your hotfixes - although I saw nothing in the descriptions that lead me to believe they might help/hurt. Don't use an Access database for the IMA datastore on one of the servers. If you haven't got MS SQL running somewhere, you've probably got MSDE running to support AAC. I'd strongly suggest you install MSDE on one of your other non-TS servers and use something like SQL Enterprise admin or MSDEadmin to create separate databases (and SQL users) for the Citrix IMA Datastore and AAC database. Now move the license server somewhere else and your servers will be more or less equivalent. This makes support a lot easier, removes a major point of failure and makes debugging what's going wrong a lot easier. One of the nice things about PS4 is that debugging IMA is a lot easier. But first step is to get rid of the Access datastore and make your life a bit easier. regards, Rick Ulrich Mack Volante Systems Level 2, 30 Little Cribb Street Coronation Drive Office Park Milton Qld 4064 tel: +61 7 32431847 fax: +61 7 32431992 rick.mack@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Pavlo Ignatusha Sent: Fri 21/04/2006 11:59 To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] IMASRV.EXE is faulting Hi group, We have a brand new install of PS 4 on W3K SP1. Hardware is HP Proliant DL380 G4 4Gb RAM. There are 3 servers and 1 server is datastore (MS access), AAC and licensing server. Ever since we built that farm we had intermittent problem when after reboot IMA service would not come up on this datastore server. Below are the errors we see in the event log (sorry for the broken table). All attempts to manually start it would fail as well. Usually it would take about 3 reboots to get this problem solved. Yesterday it did not come after 6-7 reboots. We had no hotfixes on that farm but yesterday we put the rollup PSE400W2K3R01 to see if it fixes this problem (it did not). I put the PSE400R01W2K3002 and after that reboot ima started. I'm not convinced this hotfix was the reason IMA started. I looked these errors on internet but there is no apparent reason for them. Other people have additional errors but these below are all I'm getting. No other server in the farm experiencing this problem. Any thoughts? I'm afraid next time I reboot the datastore server I will not get it up at all.
