Um, the stuff you are actually talking about is using ADSI - I suspect
there's not an awful amount of WSH specific objects you use for that
sort of thing (outside of it being the script engine).

That wasn't the point I was making, though.

This thread is about login type activities - checking group membership,
then modifying the user's registry appropriately.

This is quite different from the type of activity you would do with
system admin scripts.

My reasoning being that vbscript doesn't provide any native
functionality for any of this - you need ADSI to  talk to an NT domain,
or W2K AD. And you need WSH (or WMI) to talk to the registry. Something
like Kix does it natively - which is why you don't have a performance
hit, and why it's easier to code - *for this sort of activity*.

With system admin type activities, you tend not to be that bothered
about, say, login-type activities - you tend to just want to logically
manipulate your directory source (therefore predominantly ADSI usage).
