Citrix has identified the following issues that may affect our customers =
when installing MetaFrame XP Presentation Server, Feature Release 3 or =
Service Pack 3. Citrix Systems is currently investigating the issues and =
working towards a resolution. Once the solution or solutions are in =
place, Citrix will provide updated modules that address these issues.

Issue 1

Symptoms

Installation fails without recovery or continuation during upgrade of =
the pass-through client.

Cause

This problem only occurs upon upgrade if the customer has organized =
their application icons into sub-directories. Upon upgrade to Feature =
Release 3, the installer does not properly negotiate the directory =
structure containing the icons.

Resolution

Effective June 19th, 2003 Citrix Systems has reposted updated English =
and German FR3 Server CD Image downloads for both the Windows 2000 and =
Windows Server 2003 operating systems. Please reference KB article =
http://support.citrix.com/kb/entry!default.jspa?externalID=3DCTX102127

Note: If you do not use sub-folders in your Program Neighborhood icon =
display structure, you will not experience this issue.

Issue 2

Symptoms

Upgrade installation fails with a trap. This occurs at a critical phase =
of installation and renders MetaFrame XP unusable although the operating =
system continues to perform properly.

Cause

During an upgrade to Feature Release 3 or Service Pack 3, if the =
previous version of MetaFrame XP had 6 or more MSI hotfixes installed, =
the system may trap and leave MetaFrame XP in an unusable state.

Resolution

Effective June 19th, 2003 Citrix Systems has reposted updated English =
and German FR3 Server CD Image downloads for both the Windows 2000 and =
Windows Server 2003 operating systems. Please reference KB article =
http://support.citrix.com/kb/entry!default.jspa?externalID=3DCTX102127

Temporary Workaround

Prior to installation of Feature Release 3 or Service Pack 3, uninstall =
Hotfixes from the system. If you have already experienced this issue, =
uninstall Feature Release 3 or Service Pack 3, uninstall the Hotfixes =
from your systems and then re-install Feature Release 3 or Service Pack =
3.

Note: If you perform a clean install and not an upgrade install or if =
you have less than 6 Hotfixes installed on your server, you will not =
experience this issue.

Issue 3

Symptoms

During installation, customers may see three failures when attempting to =
register performance modules to the registry. The installation will =
complete if the customer chooses "ignore", however these performance =
modules do not install and their absence adversely affects Resource =
Manager functionality.

Cause

The problem occurs when the target system locale is set to a language =
other than that of the native language during a silent installation of =
Windows 2000 Server. For example, the locale is set to German during a =
silent installation of the English version of Windows 2000 Server. The =
native language and the locale each have performance keys in the =
registry. Each key has a corresponding set of performance counter =
library files in the \System32 folder. These performance counter library =
files are installed and managed by Windows. If these files are missing =
or corrupt their corresponding registry keys are inaccessible and the =
install cannot register the performance modules. This causes the =
performance counter library files to be missing for the locale and we =
are prevented from registering our Resource Manager performance modules =
to the registry.

Resolution

We are currently evaluating methods of restoring the missing performance =
library files pending consultation with Microsoft Developers.

Note

If your server's locale is set to the same language as the base =
operating systems, you will not experience this issue. Also, if you did =
not change the locale using a silent installation script, you will not =
experience this issue. Citrix has only been able to reproduce this issue =
on Windows 2000 Servers. The issue may or may not also exist on Windows =
Server 2003.=20
