Hi Mark - unfortunately allowing the reboot didn't fix the problem.
However, I think I am a step closer. The error on installation is as
follows:

The Program Folder cannot contain the following characters:

/:*?"<>|,.();
MSI (s) (79:01): Product: Citrix ICA Client -- The Program Folder cannot
contain the following characters:

/:*?"<>|,.();

Further back in the installation log, the following details are listed:

MSI (s) (4C:DC): Dir (target): Key:
PFNAME.C76E2E86_AE54_4AF5_997C_63EBB83C7651     , Object:
C:\WINNT\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools
(Common)\Citrix ICA Client\

I believe this is causing the failure (The (Common) in the path - () are
illegal). All machines which have succeeded have the following path
instead of the one above:

MSI (s) (4C:DC): Dir (target): Key:
PFNAME.C76E2E86_AE54_4AF5_997C_63EBB83C7651     , Object:
C:\WINNT\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Citrix ICA Client\

However, I am unsure as to where it is looking for this path (I can't seem
to find it doing a reg search either). Any further help appreciated.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the Key:
PFNAME.C76E2E86_AE54_4AF5_997C_63EBB83C7651 means ?

Cheers,
Shane

Shane

Does the install work if you allow the reboot? I am wondering if the
workstation needs to reboot the machine to replace certain files???

Hi Mark - they sure are - they are all NT4 Workstations - SP6a - all have
Windows Installer V2 running.

Cheers,
Shane

Hi All - I am trying to update the ICA client across a bunch of PC's via
an MSI package. This is being run via the following command:

msiexec /i ica32.msi /q REBOOT=SUPPRESS CLIENT_NAME=%COMPUTERNAME%
ENABLE_SSON=Yes ALLOW_REBOOT=No ENABLE_DYNAMIC_CLIENT_NAME=YES /Limev
%computername%_install.txt

The installation works on most PC's, but fails on a few with the following
errors in the logfile:

MSI (s) (79:01): Doing action:
ValidationFailed.827545C6_7013_4DE1_8E6C_DAEE4C57F54A

failed.

The ICA client is installed in the standard install folder on all PC's
(c:\program files\citrix\ica client\), so I am not sure why it fails on
some and not others ? Any help appreciated.

Cheers,
