If you aren't remapping drives, I've found that you can usually install the apps first, then Metaframe. Most apps are not "Metaframe" aware so they don't care if Metaframe is already installed or not, and Metaframe doesn't care if apps get loaded before or after either. This is handy if you are using a disk imaging product, since you can imaage your server with all it's apps without having to worry about Metaframe and it's IMA services getting fried during the restore. If you are remapping drives, then of course you should do that BEFORE you install ANY apps, or you are going to spending a lot of time in the registry making things work. ________________________________ From: thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:thin-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Joanne Determann Sent: Tuesday, July 27, 2004 6:17 AM To: thin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [THIN] Building MF server I've been administrating our Small Farm (3 server) for a year. Now it's time for me to build some new servers to upgrade the older working ones. I've been reading a lot about the installation procedure most of it is pretty straight forward and I have working servers to check settings etc. My first big question is do I install all Applications before installations MF? We publish a desktop. Office viewers, a couple of home grown Apps ,Adobe reader and SAP. DOS clients. I'm sure I'll have some more questions. Thanks,Joanne
