Subject: September BTBL Computer/Book club
Good Morning All,
This Saturday the BTBL Computer Club returns from its summer hiatus. This
month
we are going to look at some store apps, talk about some news from National
Library Service (NLS,) and other tech stuff.
The BTBL Computer Club meets in the BTBL public service area LOCATED on the
first floor of the Library of Michigan across from the elevators. We meet from
10:30-12:30.
If you are unable to join us in Lansing see later in this message for
information on how to log in to the BTBL Online Meeting Room or how to access
our call-in number. .
If you want to stay for the book club we order out lunch from one of the local
sub shops. The cost is approximately $7.00 per person depending on what you
order.
One hour after the BTBL Computer Club ends the BTBL Book Club meets from
1:30-3:00. We meet in the BTBL public service area located on the first floor
of the Library of Michigan across from the elevators.
September's book is DBC05904 More than petticoats Remarkable Michigan women by
Julia Pferdehirt.
Profiles of twelve historical women from Michigan including Magdelaine la
Framboise, Sojourner Truth, Laura Smith Haviland, Julia Wheelock Freeman, Sara
Emma Edmonds, Anna Howard Shaw, Rebecca Shelley, Ana Clemenc, Marguerite Lofft
de Angeli, Gwen Frostic, Rosa Parks, Nancy Harkness Love.
October 8th's book is DB41823 Into the wild by Jon Krakauer.
This book, which grew from an article the author wrote for Outside magazine,
discusses a fatal trek by a young man named Chris McCandless. After graduating
from college in 1990, McCandless abandoned his car, gave away his money, and
cut
off contact with his family. Exactly 112 days after he wandered in to
the Alaskan wild, McCandless was found dead of starvation. The author looks to
himself and other adventurers for an explanation. Bestseller. 1996.
*note* We switched October's and November's books due to the availability of
the
facilitators.
If you are unable to join us in Lansing you can join us by calling in by phone
or in the BTBL Online Meeting Room. The call-in number is 1-888-278-0296 and
the
