Rufous hummingbirds showed up at Big Springs Ranch in Real Co. and at our ranch
in Uvalde County while I was in LRGV this weekend...For anyone in the valley
(Brownsville area), the parrot roost at Oliviera Park is a must see, I have
been going there for three years now when I am in the area, at first, there was
a good size flock of Red Crowned Amazons and a few green parakeets and usually
one or two red loreds there, now there are four species of amazonia parrots
seen regularly, White-fronted, yellow-headed, red-lored, and
red-crowned...lilac-crowned sometimes make an appearance and a rose-ringed has
been seen last two years with the green parakeets a few blocks south of the
park...
