Hi all, A female Western Tanager is feasing on a hatch of winged ants immediately behind the Nature Discovery Center in Russ Pitman Park. Bellaire as I type this. Russ Pitman Park is located at 7112 Newcastle between Bellaire Blvd and Evergreen St just inside Loop 610 in Bellaire TX. Other birds today: Mississippe Kite - 2 Broad-winged Hawk - 1 Cooper's Hawk - 1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo -1 Chimney Swifts -4-5 Purple Martins - overhead Wood Thrush - 1-2 Swainson's Thrush - 1 American Robin - 1 Great-crested Flycatcher Empid - 1 Eastern Wood Pewee - 1-2 Northern Parulas – 6f & 1m Black & White - 1 Tennessee W - 1 Chestnut-sided - 1 Kentucky Warbler – 1m Canada - 1m Hooded Warbler – 1m Am Redstart - 1 1sr yr male Rose-breasted Grosbeak - m&f Indigo Buntings 6 m & 2f plus Painted Bunting - 1m Baltimore Oriole - 3 m & 1 f Summer Tanager - 3m & 1-2 f Scarlet Tanager - 6 m & 1 F Western Tanager - 1 f American Goldfinch – ab 8 and probably a few others I'm forgetting! plus all the usual residents!
