Ruff - Still present at the Skillern Tract of the Anahuac NWR at around 10am this morning. The bird was feeding in the flooded field east of the road about 100 ft out from roughly halfway down the entrance road. Takes a little patience to pick out in the grass but several observers saw the bird again today. Also of note at Skillern, plenty of other shorebirds and at least a couple hundred Fulvous-whistling Ducks. Anahuac NWR - Least Bittern, King Rail, American Bittern (4), along with other fun stuff with a little patience. High Island - Only made a brief stop. A few warblers around during the late morning plus the other usual migrants. Sora and Purple Gallinule were nice to see at the Rookery. Didn't hear reports of anything too exciting but there was a decent amount of activity. Rollover Pass - Loaded with birds as usual. At least 5 Black Terns, a couple hundred or more Avocets, a few Whimbrel, Marbled Godwits, etc, etc. Lafitte's Cove - Got a call early in the morning the Lafitte's was hopping. Only had a couple of hours to spend there late today but got some great birds and heard of many others. Based on early reports at least 20 warbler species there today. That list includes a few Cerulean, at least one male Golden-winged, an early day Swainson's Warbler and many more. Also good numbers of other migrants around, orioles, tanagers, vireos, thrushes, buntings, etc. Someone else can probably give a more full report but I wanted to get the word out.
