Drove around some of Travis county today.....several areas, but not much time
spent at any one place. Some of the better birds: Merlin - Wells Rd. (NE
Travis)McCown's Longspur - only a couple on Wells Ln.; didn't see any good
sized flocks moving aroundBald Eagle - flying upstream over Longhorn Dam in
AustinOsprey - below Longhorn Dampresumed Rufous Hummingbird - not 100%, but
probably. Northtown subdivision park off of Howard Ln. Came to owl
tape.Hooded Merganser, Canvasback - behind Target/Sears b/t Parmer Ln. and
Howard. Many Canvasback always on the pond at Parmer and McCallum Pass.A group
of Monk Parakeets (8-10 birds) has moved into a cell phone tower behind the
Home Depot at Howard Ln. and IH35. Been there about a month and a half now.
Red-breasted Nuthatch - CR127 about 5 miles S. of Elgin (Bastrop Co.). Jeff
McIntyrePflugerville, TX
