Lackluster morning, lackluster at 4:30P but at 6:30 stuff is falling
out...Just got back and ALL the cats wanted in and it is not even
dark!...All waiting by the door......The wind is howling from the NE here
on the front beach, so hazy and froggy, I can't begin to see Sundown
Is......smells like much needed rain in the air..(stupid Corpus Radar is
down) .there are 1.5 - 2 dozen Golden Plovers on the front beach as well as
several newly arrived Cattle Egrets...As I left the mottes in town, a bunch
of Orchard Orioles and small passerines were coming down.... I could 1-3
every minute...Just two hours ago there were virtually no migrants in the
oaks..As I walked the few blocks back to the house there were groups of
swifts coming in and saw several Eastern Kingbirds in the weeds of an
unmowed yard...I guess too tired to make it to trees just then...Looks like
tomorrow is gonna be a honey...But what I/we really want is rain...I'm off
to move some plants. So come to the coast tomorrow...will give you a
nickel if you don't find birds, I have plants to move.
