Hi, all!
After doing a BBS-style survey of Laguna Seca Road yesterday (highlight
there was a flock of Turkeys), I swung by Jara Chinas Road to see if I could
finally nab the Mountain Plovers for the year. Ran into a very nice man in
a red jeep who had reported that he had just seen them, told me exactly
where, and there they were, gradually coming almost right up to the road!
According to Google Maps the name is Mile 16 Road but is not marked in real
life; going south on Jara Chinas (also not marked; there's a big compression
station at the turnoff from FM 490), Mile 16 goes west with a barren field
on the right and "knee-high" corn on the left. The birds were just east of
the radio tower.
No luck on the Prairie Falcon or Hook-billed Kite at Bentsen afterwards.
