[texbirds] Ladder-backed Woodpecker at Lake Lewisville Environmental Learning Area Nov 8

Doug Ghrist and I enjoyed the bird walk yesterday at LLELA. Thanks, Keith
Lockhart and Sue Yost. After the walk, Doug, John Kirk and I had a female
Ladder-backed Woodpecker on the Bittern Marsh Trail. Doug got some nice
pictures. It seemed like an unusually damp location for this species, which
I didn't realize got this far east. However, I found that the TOS Handbook
lists Denton county as being on the eastern extent of its range. Perhaps we
will see them in Tyler in a few years.
