Dear all,
Today Willie Sekula, Martin Reid and I are at Dog Canyon in the Guadalupe
Mountain NP. Willie found a female Evening Grosbeak between the ranger station
and the corral. We hiked up the canyon and found Stellers Jays, Mountain
Chickadee, and two Townsend's Solitaires. As we came back down we heard the
unmistakable sound of a Northen Pygmy Owl. We heard the bird call for about two
minutes. Interestingly, the tooting sounded like the northern form, not the
mountain form.
