Good morning,
I thought the Texbirds audience would be interested to hear the following:

Rufous Hummingbird w/ band number P05173
Banded as a HY F on August 27, 2012
Location: in the Davis Mountains west of Fort Davis

Recaptured: July 4, 2013 by Kate McLaughlin
Location: Chenega Bay, Alaska
Distance: approximately 2,870 miles (as the laser beam flies!)

This is only the second banded hummingbird to interchange between Alaska
and the lower 48. The other was from Florida. Both birds were encountered
at Chenega Bay by Kate. KBB
