Jan and I went down to check out the Tundra Swans at Anahuac today. They were still right in the area Janet described earlier. I took a few pictures but they were so far out with the wind blowing it was hard to be steady enough for a good shot so they aren't very good. Drove down to the Bay and saw 2 Peregrine Falcons sitting on fence posts. Left there and went down to the Skillern Tract and the highlight there was an adult Bald Eagle. We did not find the Golden Eagle down there. We had to head home so we went the back way down Pear Orchard Rd and up to Fairview Rd and went West. About half way down Fairview we found an almost black Red-tailed Hawk with a dark red tail and then about 1/2 mile to a mile farther down there was another one with a lighter colored tail but still very black. On another note Sue caught 4 Hummers here at the house yesterday 2 female Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and 2 Rufous Hummingbirds, one adult male and a female. The female Rufous was banded here on 1/15/12 so it was a returnee.
