John It's only a SWPS module. I repaired my open set last summer...I'm not a TV repair specialist and I didn't have the schematics. So I couldn't check out the schematics to determine if the current was normal.=20 The module runs way too hot on most sets, apparently. The heat sink is too small. And it is mounted horizontally. It should have been mounted vertically to be effective. There was some controversy over which model was better STR-S6301 or STR-S6301A , I can't remember which model I got but get the one recommended for this model set. Measure the temp, if it runs less than 70-75 deg F ...maybe it might last or try to add more cooling (I added a small heatsink and a tiny 12v fan)... the cooler the better. Does this device perform any linear functions or is it just a switch? If it is only switching power I would like to bypass it till I am re-employed and can buy another sack of these ICs. I misplaced them and if I ever get any more I am going to leave the sack inside the TV.
