Jeff, If this set has a rather large IC about in the center of the main Board, see if it has a socket. If it does, remove the socket, and hardwire the IC to the printed ckt. board. I'm not sure if the IC is the Micro-P. or some sort of jungle chip, but I recall fixing an old Fisher, that had similer, intermittent type of problems. IC was simply not seated properly.
