hello !
Probably your original problem was the vertical ic and caused damage to the
power supply.
Dont try that ic again, get a new one.the white horizontal line is normal now
because tv has no vertical deflection at this time.Try MCM in Ohio probably
they have the vert.ic.
MCM tel# 1-800-543-4330.

Subject: [TechAssist] SHARP TV 14A2-S

> Hello,
>
> Can anyone help me provide solution, suggestions and TIPS as to how to
repair this fault on a SHARP TV Model 14A2-S. The SET was brought in with
BURNT Power Supply. I checked and fixed the SMPS (STRF 6653) including other
components.
>
> Currently the power comes on when SWITCHED, but goes into STANDY MODE with
the POWER LED indicating RED instead of GREEN. During this time the SET
displays a NOTHING on the SCREEN.
>
> If I use the remote control to power, the LED changes from RED to GREEN,
but stays on for a MAXIMUM of 10 seconds only, then back to RED, and then
the remote cannot be used to power the SET again.
>
> After studying the DATASHEET of the VERTICAL DEFLECTOR IC, i.e. TDA 8357,
it looks like the device has been triggered into protection mode, indicating
a fualt on the main board. I took out the VERTICAL IC, and then powered the
SET, this time it came ON indicating RED then suddendly to green, with the
SCREEN displaying a white HORIZONTAL LINE.

to next what I should do.
