Midas: I have used them for both brakes and mufflers and it always cost me
as much the second time as the first. The muffler is the cheapest part of
the job and the brake pads/shoes, likewise. You pay for everything else all
over again.

I did buy a Hitachi/Funai DVD/VCR for $89 and paid $10 for tithe extended
warranty from SAMS Club. In less than a year, it wouldn't change channels
and wouldn't record from the A/V inputs. There were two shops listed as
warranty stations. The first one was a TV shop in the next town that I have
the utmost respect for. They finished the jobs for me that I had in the
works when I had my heart attack. When I stopped in to see them they told me
they were Hitachi authorized, but if it needed parts they couldn't get them.
The Hitachi distributor wouldn't sell to them because they didn't do enough
business with him.

So I took it to the other guy. For what he put in (or said he did) it was
well worth the $10. Tuner, main micro and some other small parts. The total
parts were worth about twice what I paid for the thing. But it still died in
less than another year. I took it out to meet Mr. Dumpster.

I was really surprised they repaired it the first time. I expected SAMS Club
would just say bring it in, and then give me another one.
