OK, update time!

First, this set does not use a splitter block like on the ctc169. The G2 is
handled on a board that sits below the green CRT, at a 45 degree angle. I did a
quick check by swapping the red & green G2 lines. Problem remains the same.

Phil, U2401 sits beneath a shield which is behind the right (viewed from the
rear) side of the AV jack panel board. I had to remove a couple modules to get
to it. It is protected by a heat sink which appears to wrap around the top &
bottom of the chip. After getting the numbers for Phil, I decided to try
freezing the IC as a test. It didn't respond.

Since I already had the chassis "opened up", I tried spraying the jungle chip
U2001. instant success! I ran it through a couple more freeze/thaw cycles to
confirm it. Looks like this dog is on its way to being fixed.

Thanks Phil & Ron. If not for you guys, I'd have liokely wasted $60 on a
useless IC. Bursma has the IC in stock for about $27. I can deal with that.

Thanks,

John

Give me U2401's number on the actual part.
I may have that chassis.
Are you sure it's not the splitter block? try swapping the R,B,B anode
leads and see result?
