Have been getting some units recently with resistive spike filter caps in
power supply buses. You meet many of these close to IC's. Check your 5 volt
bus for any odd resistance. Also check, if you have this circuit, the
Standby voltage source, either a cap or battery: leaky blocking diodes can
cause all sorts of gremlins...
