OK, that was the next generation, because they had so much trouble with the
type of ribbon cable connectors they used and they didnt want to spend the
money for real ones or provide enough cable length to let you work on it
without desoldering.
With this generation, if anything locks the loading motor, the loading
driver chip blows up. Usually you can see it blistered or having a tiny hole
blown in it. That chip is usually on the capstan motor. It is not available,
you have to buy the capstan motor, about $11. There was one series where the
loading driver IC was in with the cylinder driver IC and was located on the
main pcb. You should be able to tell which it is from your print. Sometimes
the brush arms in the loading motor are also burned up. You can tell by
running the loading motor from external power. By letting the chips blow up
they saved needing to fuse the motors.
