The top section is removable on these.....absolutely!  I looked thru the V15
owners and service data and couldn't find a document procedure ....I have
one pulled the top on one a bit older than this model and it had plugs on
each side that hid large screws to hold the top on.  2 per side and the top
lifts straight off.

Investigate it...shouldn't be a big deal.
