VG4264 same as VR525, here is a possibility:
      MODEL:
     VR525

      PART:
     C520

      CIRCUIT:
     Capstan Servo

      PROBLEM:

      Erratic speed control in slp playback mode only. Servicer found

      c520 (100 mfd 10vdc) open off pin 35 of ic601.

      SOLUTION:

      Replacement of cap c520 restored operation.
