I turned the set on and got HV with sound--"sounded" odd to me so I quickly turned it off and found the HOT shorted and the fuse black. That cap determines the high voltage output by the flyback. It goes too high and shorts the HOT. BTW, I think you meant "cause the HOT to short immediately after turning the set ON.
