John,

I believe I would install a covered (flip-up) momentary contact switch if
I were to carry the Dick Smith in a toolbox.  Used them in the military
quite a bit.  May be hard to find, but probably available from someone
like DigiKey.  A cheap (and less effective) alternative would be to add a
second switch in series with the power switch, so that both must be
pressed to operate.
