Pete,

I just did the flashlight test on the DELL 17" as
Jerry
recommended. Sure enough I can see the image minus the
backlight. 

I guess now it's just a matter of locating a parts
vendor. I believe Sony makes the displays for DELL,
will tear into this unit later this week.
