Sounds like you may have a bad PS/2 port from all you have
done.

Update,at boot up says mouse not detected,go to and install
hardware using
keyboard commands detect mouse and try to update drivers,it
looks in C for
drivers and replays you are using the best drivers for this
device.Using
keyboard commands only how can I make it look at win98 cd for
drivers?I
think that may fix it.
Yes I have tried a different mouse.
I thank its missing:\windows\system\vmm 32 vxd (vmouse.vxd).
 Thanks to Jeff I got ride of cometcursor.
