1940's - blimey - perhaps you should use the term sconce (candle holder)
rather than brackets.
We steer well clear of them as obtaining the necessary wayleaves from
building owners proved prohibitive.

Has anyone any experience with inspection testing of wall mounted bracketry
for signal heads?
I have to replace a 1940's one with new.
