We've experienced similar problems with PEEK controllers and on at least
one site we installed a short length of guardrail ling with 4mm steel
welded to it to protect the boards (The other one we replaced the
controller!)

We have 32 Sentinel controllers (2 junctions).
We have had one which was reported as all out each morning by the school
crossing patrol. As with Chris it looked as though they were sitting on
the case and kicking it with their feet until it went out.
Microsense attended site several times and replaced parts but never
solved the problem.
We replaced the controller with a different make with no further
problems.
All the rest appear to be ok.
