Haven't tried hinged poles but found when removing poles from pole housing
in the past that there are only so many times you can do it before you cause
damage to the plastic sleeving on the pole which either requires a new pole
or some localised repair. The connection on the cable can also cause
problems with water ingress and bad connections.

Subject: [TCUG] Removable Traffic Signal Poles

I am looking at installing removable traffic signal poles at a site where
extra wide loads are anticipated. I was going to use the NAL pole retention
system however, I have been asked whether hinged poles could be used. Has
anyone tried hinged poles for traffic signals?
