In Surrey, we have a totally different set of pay scales.
Forget S01,S02, P01 etc, we have Surrey D, E, F, G, H etc. according to
"rank"

Don't get the idea that this is perfect however as we see people across the
same
department but in different field of work getting substantially different
grades.

One big piece of advice I would give is, be very careful how you word your
job descriptions.

I ran foul of this by saying I prepared the Contract Documentation for the
supply and installation
of traffic signals, supervised the installation and commissioned the
equipment. I was awarded
one salary grade, but colleagues who wrote - Prepared controller
specification, prepared drawing,
prepared Bill of Quantities, invited and vetted tenders, etc. etc.  - were
awarded the higher grade.

Thankfully all was sorted out (I also got the higher grade) but do not sell
yourselves short.
List everything, use the words "Manage" this, be a "Key Participant" in
that - it's all perception.

We are just undergoing the process now. The indications from our manager =
have told us that our career grade will be maintained so we will just mov=
e across and not change. So in my case I'll stay on PO1 with the same str=
ucture. There are some in the office where it could go either way,  i.e. =
top of the lower grade or bottom of the upper grade. We have been told we=
=20will get our letters and grades in the next week. So I'll keep you pos=
ted

Just wondering if any other Authorities out there have undergone the Job =
Evaluation process and what sort of results were obtained from it.
In Plymouth our post as UTC Officers (doing all aspects of design, mainte=
nance, UTC etc) was originally a career graded post starting from a Scale=
=206 (=A321,000ish) and progressing to a P1 (=A330,000ish), depending on =
experience etc.

Following the Job Evaluation process our career graded post has disappear=
ed and we have been given a nice new E grade which is capped at =A322122.=
=20As you can well imagine Plymouth is not a happy place to be at the mom=
ent! If anyone else is willing to share the results of their JE post scor=
es with me, I'd be very grateful, as at the moment we are trying to colla=
te as much information as we can about comparable jobs throughout the cou=
ntry.

Alternatively please forward details of any vacant posts you have availab=
le!=20
