FWIW: Altus Metrum's AltOS ground station software will also call out
flight events and data (Launch, speed, altitude, Apogee, etc). I've never
bothered to hook it up to the PA, but I keep the tablet in my backpack
while I'm watching the flight and it's cool to hear the flight events in
real time.

It's always interesting to see a new product line come into our hobby.
We will have to see how it works out.
I too found it pretty cool to hear Kate calling out Altitude and Headings
over the intercom at Balls.
I myself prefer to use Real Flight Systems. It worked well in my Tomach,
tracked it to just under 30K. Even though I came in hot. We still found the
remains at 3.5 miles away and 4-4.5 feet deep.

I can build you guys any of that stuff. And I can match price, better
yet, here's a deal - by a GPS-1 for $250 and you can use my groundstation.
This year, there is a new RFS Groundstation in the works, and RTCM along
with some new
UAV support I have brewin (and yes, it does talk using some standard/free
tools) :-)

Jim has a dedicated ground station. I believe that they also transmit

Take a look at the documentation before buying. I found it problematic.
