Great, I plan on being there. It was the battery boxes I was looking at so
they can be stacked to save space and are easier to carry to the pads.
If you don't mind getting me the dimensions of the batteries that would be
great. I was thinking of using a hand truck as the base of a design to have
them stacked together to get them out of the wagon and could be easier to
be pulled in and out of the trailer.

Hey Folks
Here is the hitlist, this includes new hardware and notes from last months
launch
(also attached as text file)
TCC CLEANING CHECKLIST 2024
New Hardware Needed
- Grinder/Brush to grind the blast deflectors and soot off of them
(Quad-Pods)
- New Containers (Kenny is going to send us a link to review)
- Blind nuts for the back of the trailer license plate (1-4/20)
- Broom for sweeping the floor
- Anti-Skid stickers for the door so people don't slip and break their neck
- James to review A/B relay wiring and open/re-solder wire as needed,
power cable on B relay is hoarked/wonky and connector possibly damaged.
- Estes Pads are missing rod set-screw (1/4-20 tabbed)
- Foam bumpers (Schedule-40 pipe insulation) for side door and top of
trailer
so people don't hurt themselves too bad when they hit their head walking
in and out of the trailer
- New Estes flight card holder
- Bring clips to fix the existing card holder (black metal paper clips)
- On new BT Stereo, Right and Left are swapped on the Stereo PA (the left
side is not that loud, possibly using Mono 1/4 Jack instead of Stereo)
- New Boxes for each pad
- Spraypaint TCC on Each one (stencils are in the Trailer with blank signs)
High Level Plan
- Overhaul all of the launch leads (new Gator clips, leads, etc)
- Test launch system, charge batteries (replacements on order, will be
available before April Launch)
- Service any pads, clean all rails, update stand-offs
- We need new to check and grease the stansions for the 1010 pads, and
should check the 2020 pads, go through each rail and check for stand-offs
- Go through tool-boxes, all items in trailer, organize
- Fix dollys (need to fill tires with foam again)
- Check PA, make sure all is well with fuses and our PA system
NOTE: we will need the PA for one more year, will build a siren button
next year (including multiple sounds for coming in hot, etc)
- Service Generator and check oil
- Check Fire Extinguishers
Trailer
- Empty out, sweep, use compressed air to clean it
- Open up all tables and put boxes on it
- Open boxes and make sure all is sorted properly and matches label
- Clean out trash
- Take out launch system
- Wire all launch system - check batteries and relay
- This year, we will take out the old launch system - eitehr sell or
someone can store.
- Tires, check pressure and wear
Launch Gear
- Generator - setup for power
- PA System - setup and test, check leads, etc.
- BT PA System - setup and test, check leads, etc.
- Quad Pods, take each one out, inspect, clean fittings,
remove/replace damaged parts. Some of the quad-pods need
to be tapped again to make sure the knobs work ok. Grease
and service.
- The EZ-Ups, do a quick check and spray down dust
- The tires on the carts & dollys need to be patched, inflated, and foamed
- Pack Everything in the right box
- Put back in Trailer
Launch Rods/Rails
- All of the rods, pads and rails need to have a bath in :
#1 - White Vinegar - scrub as needed with a scrub-brush
#2 - Alumibrite - spray on, let it sit
#3 - pressure wash (2000 psi or more)
Put down tarps first so we don't make a toxic waste area when cleaning
Try to gring the blast deflectors on the quad pods.
This one takes the most time and where we can really use all the extra
help - anyone who has seen our hardware knows we like everything
squeaky clean. Follow up with grease/WD40 for all threads/rods/fittings,
etc
Replace stand-offs on rails, use new 80-20 bolts/inserts and hardware.
Launch system
- Range boxes and extension cords - we need to do proper fan-out on each
range box which means going through the extension cables and making
launch
lead locations 6 ft apart from the box in the middle.
- We DO NOT need to charge all the batteries, pick the ones with the
highest
voltage and charge them (we will keep two as backup and replace all).
- We will review the Igniter leads, replace all of the ones which are bad.
- Go through and organize cables, each box will have:
- Antenna, Relay, 6 Leads for Igniters - Label outside
- Documentation - James to make a copy of LDRS37 docs, range docs, waiver
- Range Documents - thorough review
- Signs - Lets review all Signs and sort and put in the right bin
---
Jimmy, can you send me the list of McMaster parts for the Quadpod knobs
and what size Tap I should bring to clean
them out? Rod, I tried to get the latest AGM batteries with discount, but
I will hear back from them this week. Will
have new batteries for April Launch before DA. Can you get Alumabrite for
the Rods?
Kenny, I found some of the exact same boxes we have for the existing
cables (Yellow and Black ones) at Harbor
Freight, and they are cheap. Let us know which ones you were looking for
and how many can stack.
Thanks everyone, and thank you Mike for accommodating us!!!

we’re going to meet at Mike Smith’s and have the annual cleaning party. We
will get all of our gear ready for Dairy Aire and the rest of the flight

Make sure you save the date. Oh yeah, there will be lots of fun and
