Will do. I suggested Wolfgang to him since they are the only ones rebuilding them that I know of. He had a local shop (World Class Auto) check out the front end and they concluded everything is AOK except for the steering box is worn out. Wolfgang gets $215 for these things exchange. Don't know what the core charge is. He was going to call them this afternoon. Personally don't know how you would rebuild one because of parts availability of the 2 primary gears in there that would wear out. Maybe they are machining new parts. As a side; the owner is a member of our club; this is a 66 kombi converted to a camper and he has owned it since 66 and put 400,000 miles on it, Sammie ----- Original Message ---- From: Eric Woodall <eric@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, February 15, 2007 4:07:25 PM Subject: [tcb] Re: steering box Sammie, Make sure you get back to us when the work is actually done. I want to know the real deal with these rebuilt ones... I need one too [at some point]. > Friend has a 66 panel/camper with 400,000 original miles that has the > original steering box totally worn out.
