never have had this problem...a few months ago it was a fire not a broken axle
bolt BIG difference.

it's just that little thin metal cap that goes between the cv and the
transmission. it's dome shaped. that's about all i know how to describe it. i
can't even find the friggin thing on any of the parts place lists.

If it's the cap that goes over the axle splines It seals the end of the axle
flange and prevents gear oil from seeping into the CV Joint.Didn't you just
have this problem a few months ago?

sounded like...evidently the axle nuts backed off on the driverside axle...oh
well, it's time to replace those boots anyway. i do have a question
though...there is a little cap thingy that goes between the cv joint and the
transmission what is that cap thingy and do i need it? mine is smooshed and
bent and everything else....evidently when the axle came loose it shot that
piece under the tire.
